ERIN MAE GLASS

PARTNER, CHUCKANUT LAW

Erin Mae Glass is an estate planning, elder law, and adoption attorney. She believes every person deserves to have an estate plan that is shaped by their own set of unique circumstances, whatever those may be. She regularly advises clients on estate and gift tax matters, on probate and trust administration, on the use of trusts to accomplish a variety of goals, and on the planning needed to ensure that we each have a voice should we become incapacitated in the future. Erin is especially skilled in working with clients to ensure that their end-of-life wishes are thoughtfully considered and documented so that their values can be honored at the end of life. Erin is recognized not only for her knowledge and thoughtful legal advocacy, but for being a warm and personable attorney that enjoys helping others. In addition to the above, Erin finds great joy in helping individuals as they grow their families through private adoption, foster-adoption, or reproductive technology.  Erin is a frequent speaker on these and other issues. Erin graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law where she served as editor-in-chief of the Seattle Journal for Social Justice.

Areas of Expertise

Estate Planning

Estate Planning involves thoughtfully organizing one’s affairs. It frequently  includes the use of Wills, Revocable Living Trusts, Bypass Trusts for estate tax mitigation, Trusts for children or grandchildren, Special Needs Trusts, appointing a guardian for minor children, Community Property Agreements, Powers of Attorney for Health Care & Financial Matters, Health Care Directives (also known as Living Wills or Advanced Directives) as well as a variety of planning techniques to carry out charitable giving.

Probate & Trust Administration

The process used for estate administration varies based on the plan created during our lifetime and our unique composition of assets at the time of death. With Chuckanut Law, we guide our clients through this difficult time with compassion and experience. Our goal is to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. We have a dedicated team available for this purpose.

Adoptions

Erin is deeply committed to helping families grow through the use of adoption. She focuses her adoption work on private adoptions, foster-adoptions, and supporting clients wishing to pursue the use of reproductive technology to grow their families. As a parent herself, Erin understands the complexity of issues involved in becoming a parent and the need for compassion while working with clients on adoption-related issues. In adoption matters, Erin represents adoptive parents and birth parents.
